ISDN WAN Miniport Installation

The ISDN WAN Miniport is a device driver specification that uses the Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) as the line interface. 

The drivers enable applications designed to use the Microsoft WAN Miniport interface, such as Microsoft Remote Access Service (RAS), to utilise the X.25 and ISDN capabilities of an Eiconcard.

Both the X.25 and the ISDN WAN Miniport drivers can be used simultaneously with other Connections for Windows 2000 components and services (such as the Eiconcard Router Service and XPAD).

The Eiconcard WAN Miniport drivers are included on the Microsoft Windows 2000 CD, and the Eiconcard Connections for Windows 2000 CD.

Installation


To use the Eiconcard ISDN WAN Miniport driver on a particular port you must:

Configure the Dialer by selecting 'BChannel'

Set the Protocol to 'Clear Channel/HDLC Framing'

Install the ISDN WAN Miniport by taking the following steps:

1. Open 'System Properties' and start the 'Hardware Wizard'.



2. Select 'Add/Troubleshoot a device and click 'Next'.



3. Windows 2000 will then search for PnP devices.



4. Select 'Add a new device'.



5. Choose to select from a hardware list.



6. Select 'Network Adapters'.



7. Click the 'Have Disk' button.



8. Browse to the driver update location



9. Select 'Eicon ISDN WAN Miniport' driver



10. Select 'Finish'.




The ISDN WAN Miniport will appear as a 'Network Adapter' entry in Device Manager.
