Are the DMG1000, DMG2000, and DMG4000 Gateways vulnerable to the Bash Exploit/Shellshock Bug?

Introduction

Users of the Dialogic® DMG1000, DMG2000, and DMG4000 Media Gateways may wonder if they are vulnerable to the Linux Bash shell security issue known as Shellshock or Bashdoor that surfaced in September 2014.  The answer is no, as explained below.

Details

The Dialogic DMG1000, DMG2000, and DMG4000 Gateways are not vulnerable to the Linux Bash Exploit/Shellshock Bug.

  • The DMG4000 Gateways run on the Microsoft operating system which is not vulnerable to the Bash Exploit/Shellshock Bug.

  • The DMG1000 and DMG2000 Gateways use the VxWorks real time operating system (RTOS) which does not support the Bash shell functionality.  A user is not able to execute bash shell commands via the DMG1000 and DMG2000 Gateways interfaces, i.e., telnet or via http.
