Troubleshooting IPT-series issues: firmware update
Symptom:
This note may help to address several symptoms with IPT-series cPCI cards, including, but not limited to:
1) Card detection problems
2) Card download problems
3) Resource detection problems (i.e. only 400 of 672 channels being detected)
4) Run-time issues like hung voice channels, stuck ports, etc.
Reason for the problem:
IPT series cards have a more permanent version of firmware embedded than some other Dialogic cards. It can be upgraded, but it is not automatically downloaded to the card each time Dialogic services are started. Therefore, firmware fixes require an extra step that must done manually to upgrade the firmware.
Fix / Solution: Whenever upgrading to a new Service Update, always upgrade Firmware as well in order to take advantage of all the new fixes in the Service Update. The mechanism for upgrading firmware is similar for Windows and Linux, but the name of the utility used differs.
Instructions on how to upgrade firmware can currently be found in Chapter 4.7 of the Linux Administration Guide, located here:
http://www.dialogic.com/~/media/manuals/sr61lin/system_admin_lin_v4.pdf
NOTE: Necessary changes to this documentation for Windows
1) In Windows, the name of the utility is dlgpmacfwupdate. Where it says iptfwlupdate in the Linux documentation, replace that with dlgpmacfwupdate, and it will be accurate for Windows.
2) To identify the current firmware version, look at the IPTBoardSoftwareVersion under the Software Constants tab in DCM.
